Stephen Ministry
"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Galations 6:2
At Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, we are about "touching lives for Jesus Christ." Based on Paul's advice from the scripture above, our Stephen Ministry program trains and supervises lay persons, called "Stephen Ministers" to provide one-to-one, Christian care to those in our congregation and community who are facing difficult life situations.
As a Stephen Ministry congregation, Mt. Zion is expanding the scope and depth of our congregational care. Gifted in areas such as mercy, wisdom, and encouragement, Stephen Ministers are trained to be active and compassionate listeners. Equipped with these gifts and skills, they bring empathy and understanding to those who are experiencing challenging life circumstances, such as loss of a loved one, chronic illness, marital stress/divorce, re-location, career change/job loss, or other difficult transitions. Through confidential, on-going, one-to-one relationships, Stephen Ministers bring God's love and care to those in need of support and care.
