The Memorials committee is in the process of relocating the Memorial Garden to a 40x40 ft. area in the church cemetery. When the office/education wing was extended a couple of years ago, the former Garden was removed. The new Garden will consist of a central item (to be determined) surrounded by brick pavers and Dogwood trees. The names of persons memorialized by contributions to build the first garden will be included in the new garden along with the names of people memorialized with funds to build this garden. Additional memorial funds in memory of a loved one designated for the garden would be appreciated.

Starting in January 2008, the Memorials Committee will be selling memorial brick pavers. Sales are beginning with discounted prices for pavers bought before March 31, 2008. These pavers should be engraved and installed by the end of June. 4x8 inch pavers will hold 3 lines of 18 characters each; 8x8 inch pavers will hold up to 6 lines of 18 characters. 4x8 inch pavers will are $150 and 8x8 inch pavers are $300.

You may reserve a brick(s) by completing a reservation form, enclosing a check payable to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church (with a notation for a memorial brick paver) now or anytime prior to March 31 to receive the discounted price and initial installation. Forms will be available in the East and West Narthexes. The committee anticipates engraving and installing new pavers approximately every 6 months after the initial installation.
Reservations forms for these pavers are available in MS Word or PDF formats.
A sample form is also availabe for your review.
Any questions should be directed to Roger Colvin at 301-604-0776 or Rdcolvin@verizon.net

The light orange circle is where the 4x8 pavers will go. The red radials in the light orange circle are where the 8x8 pavers will go. Extending in 4 directions from the light orange circle are gray rectangles. These are 2 ft x 3 ft slate stones from the original memorial garden.
In addition to the large and small pavers, two large slates will also be engraved. These slates will list the names of those who contributed to the prior memorial garden and the new garden.
