The UMM is for all men and boys of Mt. Zion. There is no secret handshake! Please join us for fellowship and service to Mt. Zion We have a great time and would like to share our fellowship with new and former members.
UMM Hike Saturday November 14. All men of Mt. Zion are invited for a 2-3 hour walk in the Middle Patuxent Environmental Area. Meet at Mt. Zion west parking lot at 8 AM. Time afterwards to donate at the MZ Blood Drive, then lunch at the UMM president's home in Columbia. Register with Will Scott at 410-964-0389 or willjill@verizon.net.
In the past twelve months, the Mt. Zion United Methodist Men have sponsored or participated in these events to promote fellowship and service:

• The Sweethearts Dinner for about 84 on February
8, with vocal stylings by John Crow and cuisine by
Chef Ryan Wiest (both MZ members);
• Preparation of Easter breakfast for the congregation;
• Cooking and serving at the Mother-and-Daughter
Dinner on May 10;
• A breakfast on June 14 with NASA Astronomer
and MZ member Dr. Ted Gull speaking on the
Hubble telescope;
• A baseball game for MZ members and friends of
both sexes at Oriole Park on July 23, curtailed by a
mass baptism in the top of the sixth inning;
• Participation in Church work days under guidance
of the Trustees (March 1 & October 25);
• A hike along the Northwest Branch in Silver Spring
on November 8 (mass baptism forecast but not
realized) with lunch following at W. Scott’s home
in Columbia.
• A donation of $500 to Camp Hope – Frostburg.
In 2009, the UMM aspires to sponsor additional opportunities for Christian fellowship and service to Mt. Zion. For all events, we will strive to dispel the myth that the UMM is only for a select group of men over 50 with at least twenty years of church membership. The UMM is for all men and boys of Mt. Zion!
UMM officers are: Will Scott, president;
Jim Morrill, Vice president;
Brian Cornell, Treasurer;
Chuck Sehman, Chaplain.
